It has been reported that Russian champions, Zenit St Petersburg, want to sign German international striker Lukas Podolski from FC Cologne. This news has been reported by Sovsport. It appears that Zenit St Petersburg coach, Luciano Spalletti, wants to add an attacker to his squad and sees Podolski as the the perfect signing.

Podolski is currently playing for his hometown club, FC Cologne. He started his professional career with FC Cologne but in 2006 he left them to join German giants Bayern Munich. He never felt at home at Munich and therefore decided to go back to Cologne. Since rejoining Cologne he has been appointed as captain and is considered to be a key player of the squad. It is very unlikely that FC Cologne will let their star player leave. They would only consider selling him if they receive a very high offer, at least 15 million euros.
