Sunderland have announced the signing of Ghana international Asamoah Gyan from French side Rennes. Sunderland will pay Rennes 13 million sterling for the Ghana international. Sunderland closed the deal only 20 minutes before the end of the transfer window. Asamoah Gyan will complete Sunderland’s attacking options after their decision to sell Jones to Stoke City.
Gyan played for Italian side Udinese before moving to Rennes for a fee of 8 million euros. In two seasons at Rennes he played 47 games and scored 14 goals. Gyan made a name for himself in this summers World Cup in South Africa where he helped Ghana reach the quarter finals.
