Official: Real Madrid sign Mesut Ozil thumbnail

Real Madrid have officially signed Mesut Ozil. The news has been announced on the websites of  Werder Bremen and Real Madrid. The fee Real Madrid paid for Ozil hasn’t been confirmed but it appears that Los Blancos have  paid around 15 million euros for Ozil. This transfer means that Ozil won’t be featuring in the Champions League qualifier against Italian side Sampdoria. The move seemed inevitable as Ozil’s contract was going to expire next summer, therefore Werder Bremen didn’t want to risk losing him on a free in a year’s time. Jose Mourinho will be a happy man after this signing as Ozil will fill in the space left by the injured Kaka.

Ozil is the second German international to sign for Real Madrid this summer. Earlier this summer Germany midfielder Sami Khedira had signed for the Spanish giants from German side Stuttgart.
