Maltese international striker, Michael Mifsud (28),  probably the best Maltese footballer at present has returned to his homeland Malta to sign for Valletta. He signed a 3 month contract with Valletta as he would still like to sign for a foreign club in the summer. Mifsud’s move to Valletta has raised many eyebrows as he has been stating for some time that many foreign club’s are interested in him. After accepting the idea of not finding a foreign club it seemed as if he was going to sign for his native club Sliema Wanderers but it seems that Valletta president, Victor Sciriha, called him and offered him a deal he cannot refuse. Mifsud has played for Sliema, Kaiserslautern, Lillestom, Coventry and Barnsley.

He has been without a club since last June, even though being clubless he still kept representing his country and managed to score goals regularly for Malta.
