Michael Essien ChelseaGhana midfielder, Michael Essien, has renewed his contract with Chelsea. His new contract will expire in the summer of 2015. This new contract is an act of trust by Chelsea as Essien spent most of the season on the sidelines cause of various injuries. Michael Essien started his professional career at 18 years of age with Bastia where he spent three seasons. In 2003 he moved on to Lyon where he built a reputation of being a world class player. In 2005 he moved to Chelsea and since then established himself as a key player for the ‘Blues’. He played 51 games and scored 9 goals for Ghana.
