Jonny EvansNow it is official: central defender Jonny Evans (22) has signed a new contract with Manchester United. The play has tied himself to the red devils for the next four years. Jonny Evans said the following after signing “The negotaiations started a few months ago and everything went smoothly. I am very happy that I finally signed.”

Jonny Evans is a Northern Irish young defender that started off his football career at local club Greenisland FC. At the young age of 16 he was spotted by Manchester United scouts and signed. He spent his first two seasons at Manchester United with the youth team. In 2006 he was promoted to the senior team only to be sent on various loan spells. In 2006 he was sent to Belgium to play for Royal Antwerp. After a season at Antwerp he was sent on loan too Sunderland for two consecutive seasons. Since returning from Sunderland Evans has established himself as an important squad player at Manchester United. This season Evans played in many important matches filling in for the injured Ferdinand and Vidic. He did so very well.

Jonny Evans represented Northern Ireland at various levels. He started his international career at U-17 level, move on to Northern Ireland U-21. In 2006 he earned his first senior cap, since then he played 19 games and scored 1 goal for Northern Ireland.
