Official: Glasgow Rangers sign James Beattie thumbnail

The news was in the air but now its official, James Beattie (32) is a Rangers player. The English striker signed a two year contract with the Scottish Champions. Last December, Beattie was being monitored by Liverpool but they never made a bid for the then Stoke player. James Beattie will have a difficult task at his hands, that of replacing Kris Boyd. Kris Boyd left Rangers this summer for Championship side Middlesbrough.

This is Beattie’s sixth professional club after enjoying spells at Blackburn, Southampton, Everton, Sheffield United and Stoke City. James Beattie also played five times for England. Beattie had a successful career but it feels that he didn’t achieve what he could have achieved. He should have had the opportunity to play for a top club while he was at the peak of his career.

I have to admit that I am big fan of James Beattie, especially for his time at Southampton. I wish him all the best at his new club!
