Birmingham City have announced the signing of Alexander Hleb from Spanish giants Barcelona. The Belarus international joins Birmingham on a season-long loan deal. Hleb said that he rejected offers from bigger teams such as Tottenham, Liverpool and Benfica to join Birmingham. His objective always was to move back to England but he wanted to join a team that could provide him with first team action. Birmingham should be that team.

Birmingham manager, Alex McLeish, is very happy with Hleb. He considers him as a top signing as he played for Stuttgart, Arsenal and Barcelona.
