It’s been a difficult period for Manchester United recently: being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich and dropping 4 points behind Chelsea with only 4 games remaining in the English Premier League. Today’s away challenge against their neighbours Man City will be pivotal for Sir Alex Ferguson and Man Utd.

Wayne Rooney seems very close to first team return but he still has to overcome a late fiteness test to be able to play against Man City. Encouraging news for Utd is indeed the return of Owen Hargreaves who should be called to action for the first time since September 2008. Following recent drop in performance, Ferguson might face a challenging task to raise the spirits against a spirited Man City side who’s aiming for a spot in the Champions League next season.

There’s always been great rivalry between these two clubs and we’re expecting a wonderful match today, which will be pivotal for clubs’ success this season. If Man Utd drop more points today and Chelsea manages to overcome their challenge against Tottenham, Ferguson will know that it will be practically impossible that Man Utd wins an unprecedented fourth successive championship.

City are indeed fighting for a spot in the Champions League against Tottenham and will be a great blow for their campaign if they lose today again Utd and Tottenham manages to get more points against Chelsea. It’s promising to be a very interesting Saturday, packed extremely important matches for many teams as we’re reaching close of the end of the EPL.
