Wilfred BoumaWilfred Bouma’s (31) football career will be away from Villa Park. The Dutch defender, whose contract with Aston Villa will expire this summer, did not reach an agreement with Aston Villa therefore he will leave after five years at the Birmingham based club.

Wilfred Bouma is a Dutch left back that started his football career at amateur club SV Rood-Wit ’62. In 1994, at 16 years of age he moved to Dutch giants, PSV. In the early years at PSV he was sent on loan twice, first to MVV and then to Fortuna Sittard. In 1999 he earned a spot in PSV’s first team and later established himself as a key player. After 5 years of first team football at PSV he decided that he needed a change. In 2005 he signed for Aston Villa from PSV for a fee of £3.5 million. Since joining Aston Villa, Bouma established himself as a top player for the club. His last two seasons at Aston Villa were unlucky as he has been sidelined due to injuries.

Wilfred Bouma has represented Netherlands at U-20 level and at senior level. He earned his first cap for the Netherlands in 2000. Since then he has played 35 matches and scored 2 goals for the Netherland team.
